Modelling groundwater contamination: Case study Omø
The water supply of the small Danish island Omø in Storebælt is facing a series of challenges:
- Contaminations, among others with the pesticide metabolites DPC and DMS
- Importing water will be super expensive
A project could have different scopes: where do the contaminations come from, will they reach the water supply wells, how is the water works pumping rate affecting the contaminant spreading and saltwater intrusion, how is agricultural nitrate application affecting the drinking water, can the saltwater intrusion be battled by increased groundwater levels etc.
Forudsætninger
Experience in modelling is recommended.
