The ’Drug delivery and Sensor (IDUN)’ section at DTU Health Tech wishes to employ an assistant professor within the framework of our highly interdisciplinary activities supported by a Danish National Research Foundation Center of excellence as well as a Novo Nordisk foundation Challenge grant. The section makes use of a toolbox consisting of among others, microdevices, various drug formulation technologies, micro&nano fabrication, electrospinning, coherent antistokes Raman spectroscopy microscopy, 3D printing and in vitro and in vivo models. Currently we are addressing challenges such as oral delivery of insulin and vaccines.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The field of research is within nano/micro devices that can make different kind of motion, using chemical reactions or external triggers such as light, ultrasound and magnetic field – with focus on micromotors for drug delivery. These devices can be integrated with some of our larger devices for drug delivery.

You will be responsible for expanding our activities within micromotors – exploring new applications, new fabrication tools and new collaborations.

The work involves designing new micromotor concepts as well as developing technologies for their characterisation, including Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS).

It is expected that you will apply for own research funding, co-develop our teaching portfolio, contribute to our outreach activities, co-supervise, and engage PhD students. It is important that you have good communication skills both in writing and verbally.

We seek a person who is in line with our IDUN values (www.idun.dtu.dk) and who is highly self-motivated and with a great flair for guiding students. Preferably, you have a PhD degree in nanotechnology, chemical or tissue engineering and a proven track record in supervision. You can see the greater picture of the section/department and align with the goals of the section. You enjoy the interaction with team members, collaborators, and students. You are motivated by both individual and team accomplishments. You are a good communicator and create a positive working environment.

Specifically, we are looking for a candidate that:

  • Has extensive experience in nanotechnologies related to drug delivery
  • Has extensive track record within micromotors for oral delivery
  • Has experience in micromotor characterization, including CARS
  • Has experience in studying micromotors motion and their interaction with tissue
  • Has the capability of choosing the appropriate tools and devices for a given application
  • Has an innovative spirit and is driven by finding new solutions for existing problems
  • Has a track record in teaching and supervision and enjoys inspiring next generation scientists
  • Is good at seeking collaborations across disciplines and sections
  • Has the capability of being a part of a bigger cooperating team both scientifically and socially

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

You will be assessed against the

responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria

:

  • Experience and quality of teaching
  • Research experience
  • Research vision and potential
  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program.
