The online publishing house Better Students is looking for an English editor to develop and write high quality publications in the field of supplementary academic guidance for upper secondary school students in Scandinavian countries.

Our expansive portfolio of products for the English subject includes study guides for short stories and non-fiction texts, help for grammatical tests, our extensive guide to English grammar, and guides containing advice for exams. These written products are published on Studienet.dk and similar Nordic sites, where thousands of students find help in our publications every day.

You will be working with our current English editor and other members of the editorial team, which consists of experts on a range of subjects, many of whom are former graduate teachers at universities and upper secondary schools.

Your profile

We are looking for an editor who is well-versed in all aspects of academic English. We imagine you have all-round knowledge about everything from English grammar and literature to cultural and social conditions in the English-speaking world. You must be able to convey your academic knowledge in a way that is understandable to our target audience (students aged ~16-20). You must enjoy writing, as a large part of your work will entail authoring guides.

To be considered for the position, we require that you have graduated with a degree in English (eg. Master of Arts or PhD) and are fluent in this language. You must also possess a high level of proficiency in Danish, as we produce guides in both languages.

It is an advantage if you have experience with communicating academic knowledge to students - for example through working as a teacher in a Danish gymnasium or at the university.

Conditions

The job is a full time position with flexible working hours, located in the Better Students office in the center of Aarhus. For the right candidate, a part time position will also be a possibility. We offer a competitive pay package.

As an employee at Better Students, you will become a part of a digital publishing house in rapid development. You will be joining 25 colleagues, 20 of which are working in Aarhus. We like to keep an informal tone of communication, but our ambitions are high. We strive to be an attractive workplace with a good working environment and a culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Application

If this job posting has awakened your interest, we invite you to send an application.

Please enclose the following documents with your application:

- Resumé
- Exam papers (diplomas or the like) from both your upper secondary school (gymnasium or equivalent) and your university.

If you have any questions about the position, you can contact the Team Lead in Language & Literature, Peter Guldager Dahl, at pgd@betterstudents.com.

Prior to a potential interview, you will be asked to take a written academic test that you can answer online.

This job posting has no deadline. We will test and interview continuously until we have found the right candidate.

About Studienet

The Studienet-websites are part of the publishing house Better Students ApS. You can read more about Better Students ApS here.

We publish products on our Studienet-websites in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. More than 20,000 students use our products every day.

Studienet was formerly known as a database of written assignments, which exclusively contained papers handed in by students. However, Studienet has undergone major changes since 2012, as the student-produced papers have increasingly been replaced with our own specially produced guides for various subjects, containing instructions adapted to the specific needs of our customers. Since 2017 we have exclusively been publishing material that we have produced ourselves, and our goal is to phase out student-produced material completely in 2020.
