Equipment Innovation Specialist/Manager

Reporting to the Head of Equipment Innovation your main objective is to contribute directly to the strengthening and development of Remote Container Management(RCM) an Internet of Things(IoT) solution, ensuring that benefits are delivered to Maersk Line and to our customers. 

The position holder will be accountable for ensuring that our refrigerated containers (reefers) have the correct software and firmware versions for optimal running, and be a key driver of technical improvements & innovation projects to gain further value from RCM.


Key responsibilities

• Identify new technology (hardware and software) for containers to make the operational process more efficient and create better products for customers

• Identify IoT solution for dry container to track the location with sensing technology which can create better customer experience

• Develop predictive maintenance model for Refrigerated containers to take preventive action on failure and improve cargo care

• Ensure that all software and firmware versions updated on the reefer containers are tested and verified against RCM technical specifications

• Support collaboration with all OEMs (Original Equipment(Container) Manufacturers) to verify that future software versions are compatible with RCM technical specifications

• Support delivery of the RCM benefit case, and identify further efficiencies & savings

• Evaluate and assess technical feasibility of potential new uses from digital containers 

• Review and accept any changes in the RCM technical specifications stated in the contractual agreement(s) between Maersk Line and external vendor(s); and ensure that the agreement is respected by both parties

• In conjunction with the Container Procurement team, perform regular RCM vendor reviews to manage & optimize product quality & performance, as well as warranty and refurbishment programs

• Delivery operational reports required for performance management derived from RCM data

• Manage all the stakeholders both internally as well as external vendors of RCM solution to have alignment across team.


We are looking for

The ideal candidate will have an education in electrical and electronic engineering or similar combined with several years of technical experience or working experience on innovation will be an advantage.
Key skills:

• Experience with M2M communication and industrial IOT product development is an advantage

• Strong analytical skills which can be used to generate a range of solutions for any situation

• Container/Liner experience preferable

• Technical understanding, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide internal & external stakeholder group 

• Drive to develop & maintain a high level of subject matter expertise

• Ability to pre-empt problems and seize opportunities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
