Reference and relations
The position reports to Finance Director for Operation & Northern Europe (based in Luton, UK) and has a dotted line to the Plant Manager at Ball Fredericia. You will work in close cooperation with colleagues at the plant in Fredericia and have daily contact with managers and colleagues in Luton.

As Finance Manager you will have 1 Finance Controller and 1 Assistant reporting directly to you.

For candidates with experience from SCM and procurement there will be an opportunity to be mana-ging these areas as well and be responsible for 2-3 colleagues working with procurement/SCM.

You will be part of the Management Group in Fredericia with 7 managers.



The Position
The new Finance Manager at Ball’s plant in Fredericia will be overall responsible for managing the finance department and ensuring fast and accurate handling of all objectives related to the area of responsibility. Specifically, you will be responsible for areas as reporting, controlling, budgeting, financial planning, tax management, accounting, financial analysis, etc.

The key responsibilities and main focus of the position are:

  • Monthly statements, reports and forecasts.
  • Annual budgets, accounts and statements.
  • Managing staff in the Finance Department and possibly the Procurement Department.
  • Continuously develop and improve models and processes for budgeting, forecasting and general financial monitoring (such as costs and cash/debit position) and hereby contribute to improved profitability.
  • Continuous monitoring of production variables (production levels, inventory levels, energy tax, spoilage, usage, etc.) and responding on deviations.
  • Setting up goals and KPI for relevant improvements and implement procedures for this.
  • Ensure that systems of internal controls always comply with all company policies and procedures as well as with appropriate laws and standards.
  • Improving profitability via continuous cost reduction and optimisation of procurement/SCM.
  • Providing relevant data, analysis and reports to Plant Manager and HQ Officers – both proactively and on request.
  • Close relationship with external stakeholders such as suppliers, auditors and relevant authorities.


  • Qualifications
    The ideal candidate has several years of experience from a similar position in a medium-sized or large company with own production – preferably from a matrix organisation / group-structured company.

    Specifically, the candidate should be / have:
  • Comprehensive professional skills and knowledge within current accounting and financial areas and has hands-on experience with internal controlling and reporting.
  • Experience with IFRS, Danish accounting systems, laws and regulations and preferably conversant with US GAAP.
  • Experience from a production company and preferably from matrix organisation.
  • Strong skills within financial controlling and analysis.
  • Ability to set up KPI goals and implement processes focusing on optimisation and improvement.
  • Preferably experience with / knowledge of procurement / SCM.
  • Comfortable with a complex reporting structure and daily cooperation with / reporting to colleagues both at the plant and at Regional HQ in Luton.
  • Comfortable with English as daily work language and language for internal reporting.
  • A supportive and motivational leader with strong communication skills.
  • An analytical, structured and detail-oriented work style.
  • Able to handle many projects and deadlines while ensuring maximum progress in your own and the department's work.
  • A distinctive hands-on approach to your work with great focus on execution and completion.
  • Able to keep focus and stay calm in hectic and sometimes chaotic situations.
  • Strong focus on continues improvement, change and new ways of doing things.
  • Strong IT-skills – significant experience from daily use of Excel and a larger ERP-system.
