Requirements 

  • 3+ years professional web development experience

The Research Applications department currently consists of 14 skilled and dedicated colleagues, being based at all major global research locations. The position As Data Engineer you will create tools and data pipelines that use the latest technologies in data engineering thus enabling scientists to automate and streamline their daily research. You will utilize your wet lab experience or domain knowledge of biopharmaceutical R D processes in combination with a solid understanding of scientific data handling. You will contribute to the transformation of our research into modern, automated and data centric laboratories. You will work closely with scientists and domain experts from areas like expression, purification, chemistry or characterization, guiding them in streamlining and automating scientific data capture, analysis and visualization. You will participate in building the foundation of a new data culture You will guide our scientists in the transformation of their laboratories, serving as a key partner in the access, processing, integration and definition of their data assets You will automate existing manual data processes into Extract-Translate-Load (ETL) operations using fit-for-purpose tools You will help to implement data management systems to improve accessibility and quality of scientific data You will work on designing a framework of accurate data annotations by understanding and collating data and metadata from various sources You will correct, transform and enrich multiple data sources and establish quick and efficient load of bulk data You will closely work with data scientists to identify the path to successful data products Qualifications Preferably, you hold a PhD degree in life sciences (e.g. biophysics, structural biology, biochemistry or related field) with a strong background in scientific data handling. Alternatively, you have a degree in computer science, information systems technology with extensive understanding of biopharma processes or life science background. Previous experience in biopharmaceutical industry in a similar role would be highly favourable. About the department

The Department of Research Applications is part of the global Structure, Bioinformatics and Data Science (SBD) function area, providing scientific informatics solutions to the research organization in Novo Nordisk. We bridge life science research and computer science by designing, implementing and operating scientific research applications supporting R&D.

Qualifications

Previous experience in biopharmaceutical industry in a similar role would be highly favourable.
