Working in GenieLabs you will

  • Work with all parts of the development process (gathering requirements, producing specifications, coding, testing and delivering production ready features)
  • Test new stacks and experiment with various tools and technologies

THE ROLE

As a Back End Developer at Better Collective you will primarily work on the APIs that compose our Service Architecture and provide services and content to our websites.  You will work closely with other developers, DevOps and our Solution Architect in an agile environment.

We expect that you take ownership and responsibility of the components that you are working on.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Minimum of 5+ years of web development experience
  • Experience with APIs e.g. REST / AMQP, Microservices, Domain Driven Design, Event driven architecture / Event Sourcing, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
  • Has built systems based on PHP frameworks such as Slim or Laravel.
  • Knowledge of NodeJS is a plus
  • Database systems: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Neo4J
  • Experience with Task Queue and creating asynchronous backend jobs / task to offload the server is a plus
  • Experience with one or many of Message Queues: RabbitMQ / ZeroMQ / SQS / Kafka
  • Caching: Redis / Memcached, HTTP Cache
  • Distributed Logging: Monolog / Greylog
  • Can contribute to DevOps culture in a company
  • Writes Clean Code and is familiar with Coding Standards and PHPCS, PHPMD
  • Has a good knowledge of common Design Patterns: SOLID, MVC, Service Repository, Observer, Decorator.
  • Is able to embrace polyglot and reason about what technology stack (database, programming language, caching, communication protocol) should be used in specific service:
  • Views automated testing as a natural part of the development process by delivering: unit, integration, acceptance and consumer driven testing (technologies: PHPUnit, PACT, Behat/Mink)
  • Is goal driven - you want to reach your goals quickly and right.
  • SCRUM knowledge from perspective of Development Team Member (estimations, prioritization, synchronisation, communication skills).
