About you  (knowledge, personal skills and experience required):

  • You ideally hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
  • You possess 8 years or more of relevant post-graduation experience within geotechnical seismic engineering
  • You have extensive understanding of the fundamentals for a wide range of geotechnical systems for bridge, tunnel, offshore wind and waterfront structures.
  • You have an advanced understanding of theoretical soil mechanics, dynamic laboratory testing, soil characterisation and liquefaction hazard assessment
  • You possess strong technical skills, especially concerning seismic analysis, soil-structure interaction, seismic foundation design and ground improvement design
  • You have proficiency with site response analysis using SHAKE, D-MOD, or DEEPSOIL
  • You have demonstrable proficiency with dynamic numerical modelling using FLAC and / or PLAXIS.
  • You have some relevant programming experience, e.g. in visual basic or matlab.
  • You have experience with the common ground improvement methods and with the analyses required to determine the amount and extent of ground improvement needed for liquefaction mitigation or to ensure sufficient seismic slope stability

  • You have experience with (performance based) ground improvement design, including preparation of drawings, definition of technical specifications and the related practical considerations to be made
  • You preferably have experience from working with contractors
  • You can maintain an overview in a complex multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
  • You are self-motivated and engaged and set high professional standards for yourself
  • You have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating with others and sharing knowledge
  • You take ownership, drive accountability and will act as a role model for the COWI values
  • You possess a good command of English, both oral and written

Role Summary
