Global Head of Safety

As Global Head of Safety you will play a key role in leading, developing and improving the strategic direction / framework in Falck with focus on creating a safe place to work.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing H&S internal standards and controls to maintain a safe workplace, and ensure all staff are adhering to these standards. You are responsible for preventing accidents, injuries, and work-related illness, developing safety culture and mindset.

About the job

As Global Head of Safety you will have a global role and collaboration with many different stakeholders and head up the global network groups with focus on safety improvements and knowledge sharing to create Falck’s safety culture.

Key components of the role is establishing and implementing company-wide H&S KPI performance standards, expectations, and programs; and participating in other risk management/loss prevention activities with a goal of improving Safety performance and the company’s risk profile.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop global processes, tools and guidelines for health and safety, to ensure risk mitigation, implementation of controls, and legislative compliance
  • Collaborate with local teams to follow the H&S global processes, exercising the mandate of the global Safety team and deliver clear, relevant H&S messages on performance
  • Plan, lead and facilitate improvement initiatives and support the consistent application of the HSE Management System
  • Lead the development and execution of KPI´s to monitor and report on H&S performance globally and locally
  • Lead HSE assurance activities including site inspections and audits against applicable HSE criteria
  • Lead investigations of incidents and accidents using appropriate RCA methodology
  • Responsible for monitoring quality and accuracy of HSE Incident Reports and investigation´s actions and close outs
  • Provide support for the development of HSE related training programs
  • Support activities of the Occupation Health and Safety Committee
  • Share globally new insights on the health and safety area acquired through continuously updated knowledge and external benchmarking

About you We expect you to have HSE experience with a proven record of improving safety performance in manufacturing, operations or production environment. In addition to this, we expect the following:

  • Exceptionally strong analytical, verbal, written, computer, interpersonal, presentation, and supervisory skills are vital. Exhibits a high degree of professional judgment, integrity, initiative, and motivation.
  • Organized and detailed oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy. Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proven technical skills and familiarity with a broad range of H&S programs in diverse environments and expert skills in one or more of the following areas: environmental or safety management systems; waste, air, or water compliance/industrial health/hygiene; occupational safety management.
  • Proficient in English with experience and comfort travelling internationally preferred (e.g., Europe, US and Latin America). Working familiarity with at least one additional world language is helpful (e.g., Spanish, French, German).
  • Bachelor’s degree in an HSE field or related science degree (i.e. engineering, biology, chemistry) required. Certified Professional HSE Auditor would be preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are also considered desirable (e.g., Quality Management System auditor, ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 auditor
  • Incident Investigation methodology e.g. Taproot, Tripod, Topset etc.
