General Summary

This position works under limited supervision and is primarily responsible for establishing and executing sourcing strategies in line with the company and the Natural Colors Division to ensure maximum value contribution with direct and indirect spend vendors.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)

  • *Develop and implement long-term strategy for local and global category management and sourcing activities for a number of product categories and services within the Natural Colors Division.
  • *Facilitates supplier negotiations and management of supplier relationship activities adding value to the Natural Colors Division.
  • *Collaborates cross-functionally to establish and implement sourcing strategies.
  • *Assures close alignment with both local and global requirements.
  • Coordinates with international peer Sourcing Managers to ensure coordination when required.
  • Handles vendor, material and service management including vendor approval, performance evaluation, customer action requests (CAR) and audit documentation.
  • Develops and manages supplier portfolios and establish structured supplier relationships and aligns with Senior Management on strategic spends.
  • Undertakes direct and indirect category management and other sourcing activities by applying best-practice processes, tools, and techniques, in accordance with procurement governance, processes, standards and procedures.
  • Monitors supplier market profiles to identify opportunities within the marketplace.
  • Establishes and maintains preferred supplier lists, corporate contracts and framework agreements.
  • Proactively develops and manages internal stakeholder relations through periodic review meetings as well as high quality on ongoing activities.
  • Provides reports and manages information/data as required for sourcing / procurement and/or Corporate purposes.
  • Provides ready packages for procurement implementation.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Capable of challenging the conventional wisdom, be open-minded, innovative and self-confident in the face of resistance.
  • Possess good business acumen.
  • Knowledge of the sourcing process and tools related to direct and indirect spends.
  • APICS or CPM certification is preferred.
  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs and SAP.
  • Ability to work in an multinational environment with an international reporting line
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently, but also within a global team environment.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelors degree in a business or scientific field and a minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the food manufacturing, food ingredients or agricultural industry.
  • Working Conditions

    Working environment is generally favorable and in an office setting. Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate. May require travel up to 15-20%.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
