Head of Section - Offshore Wind (Lyngby)

We are looking for a Head of Section to lead the Offshore Wind section (in Lyngby, Denmark) in our Wind energy and Renewables department. You will play a crucial role in leading and developing offshore wind professionals dedicated to design offshore wind farms for customers worldwide.


Since 1980, we have been involved in more than 1,000 wind power projects in 70 countries. s Wind Energy business is growing, and we are looking for new colleagues to meet the growing demand for our services.

The Wind Energy and Renewables organization consist of 125 dedicated colleagues working from Denmark, Germany, Norway and Taiwan, while collaborating closely with energy and marine colleagues in the United Kingdom and North America. You will join a dynamic team that delivers offshore wind energy solutions and offers full lifecycle services to our customers. We have a track record in making wind energy solutions possible even under the most demanding conditions. In our offshore solutions, we design both floating and bottom fixed structures. Our offshore wind organisation consists of dedicated specialists and project managers, covering all main design services. We are part of COWI's International business line - and work in a dynamic international environment with projects all over the world from offices in Denmark, Germany, Norway, UK, North America, Middle East, and South East Asia.


As part COWIs Offshore Wind organization, we are looking for a Head of Section with focus on people development. You have international experience with offshore projects and leading multidisciplinary project teams. You are a consice communicator and enjoy solving complex issues with a multi-disciplinary project team. You will be entrusted with the responsibility of resource planning, people development and management of your section. You are experienced within the Offshore Wind area and able to drive project as well as prodive technical inputs. You will take ownership, drive accountability and act as a role model whom resembles the COWI values. You will become a part of the department management team and report to the Vice President of Wind Energy and Renewables.

Furthermore, your leadership responsibilities include:

  • Executing the department action plan
  • Day-to-day people management 
  • Set clear targets for performance and development of your section's employees, including onboarding activities and individual development plans
  • Provide support and feedback to your staff
  • Lead project teams to successful execution of projects
  • Provide technical as well as discipline leadership on projects

You thrive in a challenging and versatile environment and possess outstanding abilities to manage cultural differences, integrate people and knowledge. You hold a master's degree in civil engineering and have more than 10 years of relevant experience within design and management of offshore projects.

    Furthermore, you have

  • Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of steel structures, especially in the field of offshore wind design
  • Good insight in leading teams and project management skills on a high level
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities and technical skills within offshore wind
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
