Head of Treasury

We are looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial candidate to lead the definition, shaping, roll-out and execution of Maersk Drilling’s stand-alone Treasury organization.

The position reports to the CFO of Maersk Drilling.

Key Responsibilities 

You will be responsible for managing all treasury matters within Maersk Drilling which includes:  Mission and Vision:  

  • Shape the Treasury organisation’s mission and vision, and the supporting operating model addressing the key end-to-end process, governance and technology dimensions  
  • Shape and establish the culture of the Treasury organisation; aligned with the Maersk Drilling’s vision 

Operating Model:  

  • Define and develop the operating model for the stand-alone Treasury team; define the processes and day to day operations, governance, and organisational structure, and develop the enabling solution landscape 
  • Define the interfaces with the relevant functions and document the responsibility handovers and overlaps with Maersk Drilling’s and its associated Business Units 
  • Design the banking model within the Treasury scope accounting for the existing banking relationships and vision 

People and Staffing:  

  • Build the required Treasury team in line with the defined operating model   
  • Act as a mentor, coach and leader to direct reports, and provide guidance to peers and other relevant stakeholders in support of establishing the Treasury function in a timely manner  
  • Own ultimate responsibility for hiring decisions and on-boarding of new team members into their respective roles 

Processes:  

  • Develop the funding strategy and model for the short-, middle-, and long-term requirements outlining suggested transactions, counterparties/financial institutions and overall approach 
  • Develop the processes including the methodology, governance and framework to manage: 
  • FX, IR and Credit Risk management from strategy definition to hedge execution and trade confirmation / settlement and Month End booking   
  • Establishing the bank account landscape 
  • Cash Forecasting and management including daily, monthly, and long-term cash forecasting and excess cash short-term investment 
  • Operational payments oversight, Treasury payments execution and oversight, and bank account reconciliation  
  • Credit rating agencies and institutional investors 

Solutions and Infrastructure: 

  • Drive the solution landscape design, develop the solution and vendor assessment framework, drive the solutions’ demonstration/negotiations, and lead negotiations with the solution providers 
  • Sign off the design requirements and deployment strategy and drive the solution implementation 

 We are looking for We are looking for a person with 5+ years of treasury experience that has the following qualifications:  Educational Background:  

  • Professional Accounting/Treasury qualification, MBA or Masters in Finance is highly preferable  
  • University degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration is preferable, although not essential 

Technical and Regulatory Background:  

  • IFRS 
  • Regulation: MIFID II/ SOX/ BEPS/ EMIR 
  • Bank & financial responsibility 
  • International Trading/ Trade Finance 
  • Foreign Exchange 
  • SAP 
  • Experience with IR derivatives and managing a complex portfolio. IR risk management will likely be critical for an asset heavy leveraged standalone MD. 
  • Experience with technical cash management will be an advantage 

Professional Experience: 

  • Ability to show significant career progression in the fields of treasury department in a multinational company with a significant market capitalization  
  • Previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in an Upstream business 
  • Ability to develop cross-organisational networks and draw upon them in supporting Treasury’s objectives 
  • Strong market understanding and business judgement  
  • Excellent analytical capabilities to support team in enhancing analytical and modelling capabilities 
  • Proactive self-starter in identifying potential value-enhancing opportunities in line with corporate strategy 

Interpersonal Skills:  

  • Ability to play a leading role in founding and managing a team  
  • Energy and drive to initiate and lead a new team within the organisation 
  • Entrepreneurial approach and initiative taker 
  • Good communication skills and result oriented approach 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others 
  • Proven ability to setup a new function / conduct material new hires  
  • Proactive self-starter in identifying potential value-enhancing opportunities in line with corporate strategy 
  • Ability to prioritize implementation and make tough scoping decisions in the creation of the Treasury team 

 Language Proficiency: 

  • English – Excellent
