Injection Moulding Engineer for Device R&D

Do you want to work with high end injection moulding and moulding simulations? Would you like to analyse and improve the mouldability of plastic parts and operate a moulding machine? Do you want to be part of developing new medical devices that improve the lives of millions of patients with diabetes? If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

About the department
Patients worldwide depend on the functionality and precision of medical devices from Novo Nordisk. Manufacturing millions of high quality devices sets extreme demands on the mouldability of the plastic components in the device. The Injection Moulding group, which is part of the Mechanical Engineering Support department, supports all Novo Nordisk device development projects with injection moulding and DFM expertise.

The group analyses and optimises part designs through simulations, thereby enabling the production of high quality parts at high speeds and high production volumes. Furthermore, the group provides moulded test specimens and prototypes to the device projects, manufactured in our newly established moulding lab. Finally, the group is exploring the feasibility of automating simple moulding simulations.

The team also consists of two other groups working with Structural Analyses and Variation Management (Tolerances and Kinematics).

The position
In collaboration with device development, production and external partners you will optimise plastic parts by analysing the injection moulding process. You will give project engineers advice on best practices within the design of injection moulds, choice of process parameters in injection moulding and how the component design and material choice will impact the moulding process and the part quality. For the analysis of mould filling, cooling, shrinkage and warpage you will be using sophisticated injection moulding software tools, e.g. Moldflow.

Furthermore, you will have a practical role in our newly established moulding lab, moulding material samples and prototypes for the device development projects and testing the feasibility of new injection moulding technologies.

Finally, you will be taking part in exploring how we can automate the simulation process for simple simulations.

Qualifications
Preferably, you hold a recent Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on injection moulding, materials science and design of precision plastic parts.

Ideally, you have experience in simulation of the injection moulding process and operating injection moulding machines, but more importantly you have the ability and courage to quickly learn how to use sophisticated simulation software and solve complex problems. Perhaps, you have experience with scripting/programming code for automating standard processes. Knowledge within processing of different thermoplastics and elastomers is a plus as R&D activities often require moulding in exotic or newly developed materials.

As a person you are a good team player, analytical, proactive, flexible and independent. You appreciate an informal atmosphere and have the ability to communicate effortlessly on all professional levels in a large organisation.

Fluency in written and spoken English is necessary.

Working at Novo Nordisk
Our patients depend on our ability to rethink, reimagine and redesign how devices can improve their lives. We offer the chance to be part of a truly global work place, where passion and engagement are met with opportunities for professional and personal development. Working here, you will be faced with a wealth of opportunities and be part of a team of the best and brightest in your field.
