Java Architect for major defence product

Would you like to build a bridge between domain experts and experienced developers? Are you passionate about solving complex software challenges? Do you want to make a difference for soldiers in the field? Then you now have the opportunity to become an architect in our Defence department.

You will be the link that clarifies, advises and develops
As a Java Architect, you will be an important part of the SitaWare Frontline product, one of our flagship defence products. It helps deployed soldiers, so that they have an overview of the field and the exact location of their troops. With your work, you will therefore be helping to ensure effective decision-making and will make a difference. As part of the job, your responsibility will be to clarify new tasks and functionalities, as well as to advise developers working towards product deliveries. In addition, you will continuously follow up to ensure that the developed features are in line with the customer’s needs and quality goals. In other words, you will be the link between internal domain experts and experienced developers. Another part of the job will involve you helping to develop new features for the product and improving the existing code and development environment. Within SitaWare Frontline, you will have 30 talented colleagues. Furthermore, you will be part of a small scrum team. The team is agile and self-motivated, and consists of testers, architects, UX’ers, project managers and a product owner.

Your field of responsibility will cover the following duties:

  • Clarifying, breaking down, estimating and continuously following up on requirements, customer needs and quality goals
  • Advising developers
  • Developing applications with a focus on ease of use and design adapted to the customer’s challenging environment
  • Developing new features for SitaWare Frontline
  • Continuously improving the existing code base with a view to improving code quality, increased performance and security
  • Creating a better basis for continuous delivery

You will have ambitions for the product and your own development
We expect that you will have a background as an engineer or computer scientist with at least 3 years’ experience as a lead developer or architect. In addition, you will have experience of Java and AngularJS, and will be interested in GUI. Experience of Java FX would also be an advantage. You are passionate about being part of a highly qualified team in a dynamic environment in which you learn something new every day. This motivates you to improve yourself and your colleagues. As a person, you are analytical and organised and take pride in understanding and providing quality solutions to complex challenges.

You also have experience of developing products, where you have been involved in one or more of the following:

  • Good code quality
  • Automated tests
  • Security
  • Performance
  • Maintainability
  • Effective development environment
  • Continuous delivery

Furthermore, you are fluent in both written and spoken English.
