Power Market Analyst

Are you ready to take a leading role among some of the most experienced energy market specialists and the most experienced renewable energy trading teams in Europe? Are you looking for an opportunity to help shift the dial in the energy sector and move energy into a fully renewable future?

Join us at Centrica Energy Trading (CET) as our new, Power Market Analyst in the department for Flexible Services and you will take on a leading role in developing value propositions for our customers with flexible assets. You will get a chance to help lead the makings of the future of energy and work in a vibrant business environment with some of the world’s biggest energy investors and businesses looking to re-shape the energy industry and move towards a low carbon economy.

You will join a team of experienced specialists working with different types of assets with a focus on optimising value creation for our customers. We are facing a transformation in the requirements from our customers as new asset types enters the market. With complex hybrid installations and different types of PowerToX assets being commissioned and with increasing profit being made from ancillary services markets, we are in the process of developing new attractive products. You will be in the center of this development coordinating with key stakeholder and specialists across the CET business.

You will be leveraging from our extensive experience with CHPs, heat boilers and heat pumps and the current market access covering all types of ancillary services and power markets.

An in-field strategic player with fundamental market understanding - your finest and most important delivery is securing progress in our work towards new value propositions to our customers entering the market with new types of flexible assets. You will be supported by key specialists and ensuring all relevant input to deliver the right solutions. In close cooperation with the department head the development process will be using an agile approach to ensure that ever evolving markets are considered. You will serve as the key resource to ensure continued value creation from our exiting optimization solutions already offered in the physical power markets. 

Key role accountabilities:

  • Driving the development of new value propositions to flexible asset owners

  • Maintaining and developing already implemented market optimization solutions

  • Driving progress in our cross functional flexibility team using an agile approach

  • Join our originators in sales pitches when approaching with new asset types such as Hybrid- and PowerToX units

  • Maintain and develop deep fundamental knowledge about market setup across Europe covering all areas of the markets including ancillary services.

  • The ideal candidate:

  • Possesses a focused mentality – i.e. relentless focus identifying and reaching key objectives, without getting side-tracked

  • Must be able to balance quality of a solution against expected gains

  • Be a proactive and outgoing team player and able to lead and work actively with stakeholders across all levels of the business

  • Possess a profound commercial drive and can juggle many tasks simultaneously

  • Deep domain knowledge and fundamental understanding of how the European power system operates.

  • Origination experience, preferably from the energy industry and from a similar position with strong proven performance

  • Speaks and writes English and preferably also Danish

  • A PhD in a quantitative field such as math, physics, computer science, or similar would be an advantage

  • Alternative is Masters degree in a quantitative field, Engineering or similar, with practical experience from the power sector.
