General Summary

This position works under limited direction and is primarily responsible for driving substantial sales growth, business development activities, and relationship management with assigned key customers.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)

  • *Prepare, update and drive a comprehensive sales plan for the assigned key accounts by engaging strategically with customer’s org. to understand their needs, and identify and quantify value propositions.
  • Responsible for the formulation and execution of sales strategies for key accounts as assigned to enhance the company’s market position.
  • Develop and maintain (Key Account Sales Excellence, SFDC integrity) a deep understanding of each assigned key customer’s structure, corporate direction, market position, and product portfolio to prepare a detailed mapping of the account.
  • Responsible for coordinating communication of customer priorities withing CHR Hansen by actively engaging SteerCo, and Core Account Teams
  • Maintain and support closing CSR’s, submitting TSR’s and communicating customer forecasts
  • Responsible for coordination with key internal stakeholders, including the sales representatives in local markets, and where relevant global markets
  • Works with local and global resources to support superior performance and customize service to key customers.
  • Works with global colleagues, providing leadership in the establishment of policy and help in planning, setting and/or revising strategic objectives.
  • Develops sophisticated level of understanding of the marketplace in terms of market size and product categories, growth rates, emerging trends and technology, competitive positioning as well as the business ability to expand into niche/emerging markets
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Capable of quickly gaining the trust and credibility of internal and external stakeholders, based on integrity, competency and the honoring of commitments.
  • Possess commercial skills and technical understanding in a B2B environment required to sell value added technology-based solutions and benefits to end users.
  • Has a high energy, dynamic commercial professionalism with strong organizational skills. Should be hands-on, have a sense of urgency, mature judgment, and conduct business and personal actions reflective of the company’s core values
  • Possess entrepreneurial instincts, but must also be capable of delivering a consultative/value added approach to the sales development process with customers using Miller Heiman tools.
  • Communication, personal presentation, and interpersonal skills must be at the level required for interaction with customers at the senior executive level
  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs and SalesForce. SAP experience is preferred.
  • Requires travel up to 70% of working time.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in a food science discipline and a minimum of 10 years’ experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishment in the functional ingredients, specialty chemicals, FMCG or other value added products and services related to the nutrition, industrial food or pharmaceutical markets.
  • Working Conditions

    Working environment is an office setting about 20% of time and travel about 80% of time (this could vary depending on territory). This position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
