Managing Director

As the new Managing Director you will – with reference to the CEO of Tour Partner Group and as a central member of the group’s executive management team – take general leadership of Trans Nordic Tours by providing strategic direction and operational guidance as well as innovative commercial, organisational, people and process development.

In close cooperation with the CEO and in conjunction with the previous owners, you will ensure a successful leadership transition in order to secure that people, processes and other company assets are aligned to the TPG strategy in order to position the company further and to fully realise the business plan.

As Managing Director you will oversee the maintenance and further development of a supportive and winning culture that underpins company values and demonstrates high levels of personal accountability for actions including integrity and ethics.

More specifically, your job will cover the following areas:

  • General management
  • Strategy planning and implementation 
  • Planning and execution of the integration into Tour Partner Group
  • Deciding budgets for all departments and projects
  • Targeting and initiating business partnerships
  • Developing and driving the culture of the business
  • Overseeing employment and ensuring sufficient and competent capabilities in the company
  • Managing senior managers and heading the management team
  • Maintaining and developing business network among suppliers and KOLs
  • Identifying risks and ensuring appropriate strategies are in place
  • Delivering monthly trading and P&L reports in line with the board reporting schedule
  • Creating suitable organisation size structure and technical prowess to build and execute winning business strategies
  • Provision of ‘no surprises’ regime.

About you
Preferably you have a business degree within or supplemented by further education within tourism as well as extensive experience from the travel/tourism industry, ideally from incoming, but alternatively from outbound or other similar travel and/or leisure type of industries/companies. You speak English fluently and has Danish or Swedish as your mother tongue. You demonstrate a high energy to drive rapid and ongoing change, are passionate about the business, intelligent with business acumen, a fast thinker and eager to learn. You are also an empathetic leader with strong interpersonal and relation building skills and the ability to instil enthusiasm in others and lead by example. You understand how to manoeuvre in complex internal and external set-ups, and you are action-oriented and have the courage and self-confidence to take initiatives and empower others.

Trans Nordic Tours is the largest local inbound tour operator to the Nordic countries by revenue and has over the recent five years experienced solid growth.

Tour Partner Group has recently acquired Trans Nordic Tours, building on its position as a leading European destination management company with combined revenues over EUR 100m.

Tour Partner Group is the holding company for Hotels & More, Irish Welcome Tours and Authentic Vacations.

Hotels & More is a professional B2B partner for group tours and foreign independent tours to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Since its foundation in 1996 in Harrow, it has established itself as one of the leading inbound tour operators. In 2015, Hotels & More was backed by Mayfair Equity Partners, a UK based buyout and growth capital investor.

Irish Welcome Tours is one of Ireland's leading inbound tour operators and destination management companies. It has been based in Dublin for over 27 years and boasts a team of 65 multilingual staff.

Authentic Vacations is based in California with 20 staff offering self-drive and chauffeur-driven tours to Ireland and the UK from the B2C market in North America.

The acquisition marks the first strategic initiative under recently appointed Tour Partner Group CEO Paul Maine, and the Group's entrance into the Nordic market. Trans Nordic Tours will also add new source markets to Tour Partner Group's portfolio, capturing increasing demand from Asia, Australia, the Middle East and South America.

This new acquisition follows the recent transaction with Irish Welcome Tours and Authentic Ireland, a high growth online US travel agent which strengthened Tour Partner Group's market-leading position in the UK and Ireland.

This activity represents the next phase in Tour Partner Group's growth, building on its success since Mayfair Equity Partners backed the buyout of Hotels & More in 2015.

Tour Partner Group now consists of over 150 destination experts, providing services across 14 North European countries to clients from more than 50 countries; including operating groups, foreign independent tour providers and the meeting and event industry.
