Mechanical hacker needed

Did you know that one kg of protein from beef leaves the same footprint as flying London – New York, and requires around 30kg of corn to produce?

The whole agriculture- and farming industry is inefficient and broken – we are working hard to fix this.

At Biotrino we are passionate about utilizing microorganisms to produce proteins and fats. They do this far faster and more efficient than animals and plants – without using any toxins.

The products can then be used to enhance food products with proteins, or to replace milk, butter, eggs etc.

We’ll use big fermentation tanks where we supply the microorganisms with the nutrients they need, in a controlled environment.

Currently we’re testing in small scale, in a few months we plan to scale up to bigger tanks, and that’s where we need your mechanical skills.

You would probably have a background as mechanical engineer, maskiningeniør, maskinmester or similar.

If you have experience with tanks or fermentation equipment – for example from pharma, brewing, diary etc – that would be great. If you are a quick learner, and have good general mechanical skills, that would be great too.

Your tasks will generally be to setup the equipment, make sure if works, and fix the practical tasks we’ll have. Below are a few examples

  • Find and buy the needed equipment from the specifications we have.
  • Install the equipment.
  • Help find and prepare production location.
  • Assis our scientists with practical problems – for example how do you transfer a small volume of medium from a flask into the fermentation tank with minimum risk of contamination? How do we best feed the tanks with nutrients?
  • Plan ahead for scaling up the production.

Generally, it's important that you are hardworking, and you take charge and fix the challenges we'll face. Of course, you can't know everything yourself, but then you'll need to get in experts or hire contractors.

In the long run, you also have the possibility of taking lead as for example plant manager.

The position is either part time of full time. The optimal solution for us would be to start part time, and move into full time once the production is up and running.

Join us and help fix the world!
