Mechatronic/Hardware Developer for mobile robots in Blue Ocean Robotics

Blue Ocean Robotics – a Robot Venture Factory in Odense, Denmark – develops, produces and sells professional service robots primarily in healthcare, hospitality and agriculture. The portfolio of robots includes such brands as GoBe Robots, a mobile telepresence robot for communication, social inclusion and CO2 reductions; UVD Robots, a mobile robot for disinfection; PTR Robots, a mobile robot for safe patient handling and rehabilitation; as well as others.

Blue Ocean Robotics develops the robots from problem, idea and design to development, commercialization, and all the way to exit. Each robot is moved into its own subsidiary-venture company, making Blue Ocean Robotics the world’s first Robot Venture Factory. Blue Ocean Robotics supplies all our venture companies, who are selling the service robots, with high quality robots on-time in a volume that is about to scale. Among other things, Blue Ocean Robotics has won one of the robot industry’s most prestigious international awards, the IERA Award 2019.

Your Profile

We expect you to have some years of experience and a proven track record as Mechatronic/Hardware Developer from a relevant industry. Your main role is to make sure that our robots, in production, are always equipped with the latest hardware and to aid and develop new hardware systems for existing and future robots. You will become responsible for design, development and test of the HW for existing and upcoming robotic development projects.

Need to have experience for the position:

  • Low voltage electrical systems design and component sizing with Autocad Electricals/ Eplan or similar (Autocad is preferred)
  • Component selection, testing and validation
  • I/O interfacing (sensors, actuators, Motor controllers, Motors)
  • EMC, shielding and electrical DFMEA, Risk Assessments, DFR (Design For Reliability)
  • Experience with debugging, troubleshooting and diagnostics from prototyping
  • Create, maintain and review technical documentation
  • Experience with compliance, safety other regulatory requirements
  • Both theoretical experience and hands on skills are required

Nice to have experience:

  • Embedded firmware development for Microcontrollers (ARM processors)
  • Version-control system (e.g. Git)
  • Communication buses and protocols (e.g CAN, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, TCP/UDP)
  • Control algorithms (e.g. motor controller)
  • PCB soldering

You are self propelled, getting-things-done oriented, systematic, analytical but yet pragmatic, and you are not afraid of challenging targets and KPIs. You are data focussed and documentation and digitally oriented with a strong ability to manage everyday challenges in a robot venture factory, which is one of a kind in the world.
