Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest electricity generators and producer of heat and operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

We are now looking for a Modelling Associate Engineer for our Offshore Wind,  Windfarm Design Team.

Overall purpose of the role
The Modelling Associate Engineer will be part of a team having the responsibility for creating and running the model frame work we use to assess and evaluate the design of our future windfarms, utilizing advanced mathematical optimization methods, co-simulation of multiparameter physical models and mastering the full complexity and impacts of such a design considering the full life time of the windfarms.

You will take part in developing and expanding the model suite that enables Vattenfall to explore multiple potential solutions, and create robust pre-designs of windfarms, to guide our business decisions as well as making credible pre-evaluation of new technologies on product, system and park level. The achieved findings and recommendations are essential to guide Vattenfalls technology planning and technology roadmaps in order to be able to develop, construct and operate windfarms with the lowest levelized energy cost in the world.

Your responsibilities as a Modelling Associate Engineer:
• Participate in the use and development of Vattenfalls technical modelling/optimization initiative.
• Create models of various parts of a windfarm design and integrate them in the Matlab based Vattenfall model suite for optimization purposes.
• Validate and ensure high quality of the models created
• Initiate exploration of potential new mathematical methods for optimization.
• Explore new technologies for windfarm designs.
