Part-Time Lecturer for Programming for Designers

The Master Programme Games seeks a lecturer who can co-teach the 1st semester course ‘Programming for Designers’ in English (7,5 ECTS course) from 1 August 2021 or soon thereafter. The employment period is for 1 year.

This course teaches Design Track students with no or limited prior knowledge fundamental programming skills in order to enable them to create interactive prototypes and edit gameplay code.

Students gain the ability to design and implement simple programs based on basic algorithms in this course. They learn to document and test their own code. They also learn to read, understand, and expand on existing programs and existing libraries. After the course they should be able to understand and explain common programming concepts like inheritance, entities & components, variable scope and garbage collection. They should additionally be able to use version control systems.

The lecturer should be competent and able to teach practical as well as conceptual topics in programming. Ideally, the teacher has industry knowledge about commercial game production methods in order to contextualise and validate the skills taught in the course.

The applicant must document professional and/or research experience within the area and ideally has experience with academic teaching at university level. Moreover, the applicant must document the required language skills in oral and written English.

The candidate must have a candidate-/MSc-degree within a relevant field.

Application and salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). There is no set hourly norm per semester as this will depend on the course in question. Also, there is no guarantee that the part-time lecturer will be asked to teach every semester. The position includes conducting examinations, but conducting examinations results in extra hours depending on the number of students examined.

The applicant will be assessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 25 April 2008.
