Part-time Professorship (with special responsibilities) within Maritime Economics and Logistics

The Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics (INO) invites applications for a vacant position as Part-time Professor (with special responsibilities) in the field of Maritime Economics and Logistics. The position is a part-time (10%), six-year position. The professor will be part of the Business in Society Platform, CBS Maritime (

The research profile of INO is focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, informed by organizational economics, and predominantly based on unique empirical data analyzed with the use of state-of-the-art methods.

It is the ambition of INO to sustain and develop its international reputation for excellent research in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching in innovation, entrepreneurship, organizational economics, management studies, and research methods, including econometrics.

The profile of the applicant
INO seeks to establish a strong focus on ports and port-related sectors. This includes strengthening 1) research in maritime economics and logistics with a focus on ports; 2) collaboration with the port business community and stakeholders regarding port change and transformation; and 3) teaching in CBS’ maritime courses and programs. The department has been instrumental in establishing an international research partnership on “Governance and Innovation for a Sustainable Maritime Supply Chain”, which includes a strong research focus on ports. In addition, the department is developing collaborative research with selected European ports, including close collaboration with the industry association “Danish Ports”.

Examples of research areas that the Professor (with special responsibilities) could cover:

  • Port governance, ownership, corporatization
  • Value creation, value proposition and business model innovation
  • Port clusters and industrial eco-systems
  • Port strategy, performance, internationalization
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Climate adaptation and resilience

  • Promoting the academic development of the discipline - and CBS’s academic reputation
  • Conducting and publishing research at the highest international level
  • Further training of researchers, supervision of assistant professors and assessment committee work
  • Participating in regular research activities, including research seminars, workshops, conferences, international research co-operation, and reviewing for academic journals
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects
  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education and supervision of PhD students
  • Developing research-based courses and programs
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department, and to CBS-wide tasks
  • Communicating findings to the public in general, and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular.

Candidates must document a high degree of relevant, original and up-to-date scientific publications at an international level.

Candidates must be willing to participate in Department-based research projects, and be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research activities, and of securing external research funding.
Candidates should be able to document pedagogical qualifications, good teaching evaluations, and an ability to innovate within the educational field.

The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Danish is ideal, but not a requirement.

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organization.

An expert committee will review the received job applications.

After the application deadline the committee will make a shortlist of the best qualified applicants. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline. The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee, and later in the process they will receive the result of their assessment.
