PhD in Entrepreneurship and Design

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management invites applications for a 3-year PhD Scholarship in the crossfield of Entrepreneurship and Design. The position is open from 01.06.2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is located at Campus Kolding.

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management (www.sdu.dk/IER) is a dynamic work environment with approx. 85 employees engaged in research and teaching in the fields of entrepreneurship, management and marketing in business networks and organizational studies.

This PhD research will contribute to the Entrepreneurship and Organization research group. The research in the group focuses on four themes, including nascent entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, research at the intersection of entrepreneurship and design. Such research could include exploration of e.g.:
The PhD project proposal should describe

· The use of design thinking in entrepreneurship
· The use of design tools such as prototyping in entrepreneurial processes
· Designers as entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs as designers

We invite applicants with a relevant master's degree and a strong background within entrepreneurship, innovation, management or design. Only applicants with high grades will be considered for the position and applicants with some initial experiences with research will be preferred.

The PhD programme includes an individual education programme with course-work equivalent to 6 months. PhD research includes a 3-6 month stay at a research institute abroad and, over the period of the programme, you will acquire experience of teaching or dissemination activities. You are expected to participate in general research activities at the department.

Your employment as a Salaried PhD Research Fellow is governed by the agreement of October 1, 2008 on Graduate Employees in government appendix 5 - protocol on PhD Research Fellows. The scholarship runs for three years.

An application must include:





  • Detailed CV

  • A certified copy of your master's degree certificate including all examination results

  • Application form (please see below)

  • A project description (max 5 pages of 2400 characters each, including spaces, notes, appendices, bibliography etc.)

  • An abstract for the above project description of no more than 250 words

All non-Danish documents must be translated into English.
Applications will be assessed by a committee. When the evaluation committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
