Meta is looking for a policy communications expert to support a wide variety of policy topics across Europe and the broader EMEA region. The successful candidate will need to understand the media environment and debate around online innovation and regulation around the region. Political awareness and a strong interest in global news and current affairs are essential, as is experience distilling technical, complex issues into coherent and easy-to-understand communications materials. To succeed in this role you’ll be passionate about Meta’s products and services, and the potential of the metaverse to unlock new creative, social, and economic opportunities and experiences. An outstanding writer, with a proven track record of executing high-impact proactive campaigns on complex corporate issues, you will be open to trying new things and used to managing numerous projects with tight deadlines. You will also have experience managing external relationships and supporting academic, third sector and other partners to showcase policy projects work, and be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys international cross-functional working with comms partners and policy, legal and product teams. This position is full-time, can be located in any European office, and reports to the Policy Communications Manager, Privacy and Regulation, EMEA.
Policy Communications Manager, EMEA Responsibilities
Cross-functional collaboration: Work with global, country and regional communications teams, as well as cross-functional policy partners across EMEA, to design and implement proactive strategic campaigns that showcase policy opportunities in the metaverse and advance Meta’s goals in the region.
Media strategy and relations: Manage inbound press requests in narrow timeframes on a variety of policy and programmes issues
build relationships with key reporters and confidently brief press and other stakeholders on policy, programmes and online governance issues. Help to land global policy announcements around internet regulation and policy programmes in EMEA.
Content/messaging: Distil complex policy concepts into plain language for press, policymakers and the general public through a wide range of written material like press releases, blog posts, Q&As, briefing materials and talking points.
Minimum Qualifications
Experienced Policy/Communications professional with a background in media relations
Experience working on high profile press issues and proactive policy campaigns
Strong interest in innovation, tech policy and the future of the internet
Excellent written and communication skills
Political awareness and a strong interest in international news and current affairs
Organisational, project management, and consensus-building experience to drive alignment with cross-functional teams
Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, with flexibility to pivot/reprioritise quickly as needs arise
Although the role can be based in a variety of Meta’s European offices, the working language is English
