Postdoc (bioinformatician)

Responsibilities and tasks


The responsibilities will include further expansion of available tools, as well as development of novel methods for analysing and integrating sequencing data from metagenomes and diploid organisms. This should include both illumine and oxford nanopore data. The successful candidate will be joining an already established group, where support for conducting the bioinformatics research is available and necessary laboratory data can be generated from our laboratories.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Evaluate and update methodologies for rapid and precise alignment of NGS-reads.
  • Develop novel methods for analysing metagenomes, single isolates and diploid organisms based on Illumina and Nanopore reads, as well as new technologies if they become available.
  • Qualifications
    Candidates should have a PhD degree in bioinformatics or equivalent.

    The following will be an advantage:

  • Good programming skills, Python, R, Perl, C++ or C
  • Basic microbiological knowledge
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in bioinformatic and machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with alignment methods, analyses of short.- and long sequencing reads and phylogenetic analyses

    Salary and terms of employment
    The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
