Postdoc in antibody directed vaccinology/molecular biology

Postdoc in antibody directed vaccinology/molecular biology
Centre for Medical Parasitology (CMP)
Department of Immunology and Microbiology (ISIM)
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen
A two-year post-doc position (with the possibility of extension) is available in the EPITOPE team at CMP ( The starting date for the position is 1st of March 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The research in the EPITOPE team is focused on the use of monoclonal antibodies for epitope based vaccinology. The current research will be conducted in close collaboration with researchers at University of Oxford, The Sanger Institute in Cambridge as well as University of Ghana. For this position, protective antibodies against essential antigens involved in P. falciparum malaria invasion into red blood cells will be developed and epitope mimics investigated as multivalent peptide vaccine candidates.
Qualifications requirements
The postdoc is expected to take a leading role in the team's continued investigations of (i) parasite ligands involved in merozoite invasion of erythrocytes, (ii) identification and functional characterization of monoclonal antibodies reacting with relevant parasite antigens and (iii) generation of antibody epitope mimics by phage display technology.
The ideal candidate for the job has substantial experience in experimental immunology and molecular biology research from previous postdoctoral work, with a track record of his/her ability to conduct and lead research and bring it to timely fruition. Documented experience with cloning and protein engineering including recombinant monoclonal antibodies, B cell receptor sequencing and/or phage display technology will be considered advantageous.
In addition to laboratory-based research in Copenhagen, the postdoc will be expected to participate in the team’s laboratory training of junior scientists, in our pre- and postgraduate teaching duties, in our field work in Africa (mainly Ghana), and in our on-going efforts to procure additional funding.
