Postdoc in Behavioral Economics and Innovation

The Unit for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management, Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO), Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is seeking to recruit a postdoc fellow for a 2-year position to participate in research projects in the microfoundations of university industry collaboration, using policy capturing and behavioral experiments as research methods. The project is part of the larger research project INTERACT sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (see more here:
The position is available from 1 June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.  
Description of tasks  
The main tasks of the postdoc fellow will be to conduct research regarding the micro-foundations of university-industry collaboration. More precisely, by the use of policy capturing and behavioral economics experiments, the aim is to measure the likelihood that researchers, both in industry and at universities, will engage in a collaboration. As tools for the empirical analysis, we expect the postdoc to be in charge of recruiting and gathering data from participating researchers. Based on the gathered dataset, the postdoc will run empirical investigations in order to assess factors influencing the decision to collaborate. Other tasks include obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication, active research fundraising, and research-based teaching.
Scientific environment  
The successful candidate will be part of the INTERACT research project. The position is hosted at IFRO, and will involve a close collaboration with colleagues Assistant Professor Toke Reinholt Fosgaard, Assistant Professor Karin Beukel and Postdoc Maral Mahdad, as well as external Prof. Beverly Tyler from NC State University. Furthermore, the postdoc can expect to be in close collaboration with the international network of scholars that is part of the INTERACT project. 
At IFRO, where the position will be located, the main activities are research, education, research-based public sector services and broader dissemination, particularly within the fields of environment, natural resources, global development, food and agriculture as well as consumption, bioethics and governance. The postdoc fellow will be part of the section Production, Markets and Policy. You will get to work in a pleasant, international and collaborative atmosphere with colleagues from many countries.

Formal requirements  
Applicants must have a relevant Ph.D. degree, preferably in Management or Economics of Innovation or Behavioral Economics.

Applicants will be assessed based on their qualifications within the following areas:  

  • Documented scientific qualifications, including a Ph.D. in relation to the above subject areas
  • Experience with innovation research
  • Experience with behavioral and experimental economics
  • Particular experience with policy capturing and behavioral economic experiments
  • Experience with applied econometrics
  • Experience with working in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Well-developed collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English
