2-year Postdoc Position in Computational Chemistry of Stain Models and their Interactions with Enzymes – Aarhus University, Denmark

The Biomodelling group at Aarhus University (LINK) is seeking applications for a 2-year senior postdoc position in the field of stain modelling and the interaction of stains with enzymes. The aim of the project is to understand how enzymes commonly found in laundry detergents interact with stain surfaces. The position includes the use of a wide range of data analysis and modelling tools, as well as communicating with both academic and industrial partners affiliated to the project.

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starting and well-organized scientist. Duties on top of own research for this position includes daily supervision of students, aiding in the smooth running of the group as well as grant writing and occasional teaching. Outside of a strong motivation to work with coarse-grain modelling, we expect the following qualifications from the candidate.

  • PhD in Computational Chemistry, Biology or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of postdoc experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience with molecular dynamics simulations is essential, with additional experience with homology modelling and the study of complex systems is preferred. Knowledge of the Schrodinger software Maestro is advantageous, as is experience with GROMACS and force-field parametrization of molecules.
  • Experience in both coarse grain and atomistic simulations is advantageous as is prior experience in modelling enzymes.
  • Experience in simulation analysis using tcl and/or python is beneficial.
  • Experience in grant writing a plus and previous experience in industrial collaborations and maintaining international collaboration is highly beneficial.
  • Documented experience in participating in large research projects involving both computational and experimental groups, and both from academia and industry is required.
  • Strong publication record expected.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
