Postdoc in Critical Diversity and Social Entrepreneurship

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Postdoc in Critical Diversity and Social Entrepreneurship at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy.

Core research areas of the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy are organized into different research groups: Politics; Business History: Philosophy; Management & Entrepreneurship; and Law. Faculty within these groups have research backgrounds in all areas of political science, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, law, theology, aesthetics, design and innovation, tourism and leisure management, cultural economics, leadership and strategy, pedagogic study, and other areas.

The postdoc will be affiliated with the Management and Entrepreneurship group.

It is the ambition of the Department to develop its reputation among students, companies, public institutions, and research colleagues as innovative, creative and critical/reflexive. The Department is committed to research-based education and to bring new knowledge into play in society in a constructive, engaged, and valuable manner. A key focus of MPP is to publish its research with highly ranked academic journals and publishers across a broad spectrum of areas.

  • Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching in a wide range of program including entrepreneurship, service management, philosophy and politics.
  • Examples of research areas that the Postdoc might cover:
  • Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
  • Social Entrepreneurship
  • Solidarity and organizing
  • Tourism studies
  • Development studies
  • Critical, intersectional and decolonial approaches

What unites faculty is an overriding concern for the organization of the human within its multiple environments: work, nature, economy, civil association, the state, and corporation. MPP also participates in numerous interdisciplinary cross-CBS activities.

In line with this concern, the postdoc should demonstrate a capacity to bridge across several of these environments and place the human at the heart of the project.

Responsibilities nclude:
  • Doing research at the intersection of DEI and another area of interest.
  • Teaching in relevant programs, including the SEM program
  • Participating in and support the development of the activities of the Business in Society platform for Diversity and Difference
  • Support local funding efforts, which can include the seizing of opportunities to extend the advertised non-tenured position.
The Postdoc is a non-tenured position for a 1-year period with research obligation.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.

The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential.
Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description.
We will value both published work and the academic pipeline in relation to the areas of interest. In addition, successful experience in attracting funding and in organizing scholarly events will be a plus.
The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.
The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.
Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
