Postdoc in Physical Oceanography

The Gullmarsfjorden in Sweden will be used to test fundamental assumptions about ocean turbulence. In collaboration with the universities of East Anglia, Gothenburg and Rostock we will directly observe lateral and horizontal momentum fluxes across the fjord's boundary layers. These data will be used to test commonly used turbulence closures of numerical ocean models. The successful candidate will have expertise in either acquisition and analysis of oceanographic data or numerical modelling of the coastal ocean. A keen interest in combining observations, models and theory is expected. The position is funded for 2 years.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within physical oceanography as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.

329952723Postdoc in Biochemistry and BiophysicsRobot Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a two years position, with the possibility of extension, as postdoc in Biochemistry and Biophysics starting April 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Description of the scientific environment The postdoc will join an ongoing collaboration between prof. Karen Skriver s group, which is part of the Protein Biology Group, and prof. Birthe B. Kragelund s group, which is part of the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab), Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen (http: www.bio.ku.dk sbinlab). Together the two groups provide a strong, international environment for research in the function, structure and dynamics of proteins with emphasis on intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). The research in the two laboratories is highly interdisciplinary ranging from in vivo studies over applied bioinformatics to advanced biophysics. The laboratories are part of the Linderstrøm-Lang Centre for Protein Science and the Integrative Structural Biology at the University of Copenhagen (ISBUC) (http: www.isbuc.ku.dk). For further information contact Karen Skriver (kskriver@bio.ku.dk) or Birthe B. Kragelund (bbk@bio.ku.dk). Research Project The project will use biochemistry and biophysics to improve the understanding of the molecular properties and mechanisms of the aa-hubs (Bugge et al. 2018, Structure O Shea et al, J. Biol. Chem. 2017), which are regulators of transcriptional networks and include the RST, PAH, TAFH and NCBD domains. The domains are central nodes in large interactomes and implicated in plants stress regulation and a number of human diseases. Specifically, the focus will be on investigations of the structure, topology and dynamics of the aa-hubs and decomposition of ligand binding specificity, competition and mechanisms, thus deriving properties that provide fidelity in signaling events. Qualifications The successful candidate must have a PhD degree and a strong background in protein science, biochemistry, or biophysics and preferentially also in structural biology. Prior experience with protein production for biophysical and structural analysis is a requirement. It is a strong advantage to have documented experience with protein NMR spectroscopy and or X-ray crystallography and or thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of proteins. Prior work on intrinsically disordered proteins and good English writing competence is also advantageous. Strong team work capabilities are needed. The postdoc will join an ongoing collaboration between prof. Karen Skriver’s group, which is part of the Protein Biology Group, and prof. Birthe B. Kragelund’s group, which is part of the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab), Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen (http://www.bio.ku.dk/sbinlab). The laboratories are part of the Linderstrøm-Lang Centre for Protein Science and the Integrative Structural Biology at the University of Copenhagen (ISBUC) (http://www.isbuc.ku.dk). For further information contact Karen Skriver (kskriver@bio.ku.dk) or Birthe B. Kragelund (bbk@bio.ku.dk).

Research Project
The project will use biochemistry and biophysics to improve the understanding of the molecular properties and mechanisms of the aa-hubs (Bugge et al. 2018, Structure; O’Shea et al, J. Biol.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a PhD degree and a strong background in protein science, biochemistry, or biophysics and preferentially also in structural biology. Prior experience with protein production for biophysical and structural analysis is a requirement. It is a strong advantage to have documented experience with protein NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray crystallography and/or thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of proteins. Prior work on intrinsically disordered proteins and good English writing competence is also advantageous. Strong team work capabilities are needed.

The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.

329960548Postdoc in Experimental Quantum Optics at Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks and the Quantum Internet Alliance, Niels Bohr Institute, University of CopenhagenRobot The position will be part of the experimental quantum photonics group headed by Prof. Peter Lodahl (www.quantum-photonics.dk) within the newly established Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks (Hy-Q, https: hy-q.nbi.ku.dk). In the quantum photonics group we specialize in developing photonic nanostructures in order to tailor light-matter interaction. The developed hardware is employed for quantum-information processing applications towards a quantum internet. The Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks, Hy-Q is a 6 year major research initiative aiming at creating a quantum internet by exploiting quantum dots and opto-mechanical systems. The center is a collaboration between the quantum photonics group and the groups of Prof. Anders S. Sørensen (www.tqo.dk) and Prof. Albert Schliesser (www.nbi.dk ~aschlies research.html). In total the center employs approximately 50 scientists working on quantum networks. The position will also be part of the research within the Quantum Internet Alliance (http: quantum-internet.team). The position should support and complement the activities of the Hy-Q research center and the Quantum Internet Alliance. The position concerns the generation of multi-photon entangled states by the use of a single quantum dot in a nanophotonic waveguide. The future applications of the photonic cluster states in quantum-information processing are considered. Inquiries about the position can be made to Prof. Peter Lodahl, lodahl@nbi.dk, phone: ( 45)20565303.
