Postdoc position in Cultural/Social/Political Psychology

Applications are invited for a PostDoc position (one year) at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The PostDoc will collaborate with Séamus Power Assistant Professor in Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology.

The PostDoc wil be part of the newly established and growing research group on Personality and Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology. Other members of the group are Thomas A. Morton, Robert Böhm, Ingo Zettler and Jochen Gebauer (part-time).

Employment should start in Spring 2020 or shortly thereafter.

Job description
A postdoctoral position is a fixed-term academic position. The position is heavily weighted in favour of research. Other duties (e.g., research administration) may, furthermore, have to be performed to a limited extent. The University determines the exact ratio between the various responsibilities. The ratio may vary over time. The chosen candidate will be enrolled as a PostDoc at the Faculty of Social Sciences. It is expected the PostDoc works on research projects together with the supervisor. As well as working on current projects with the P.I., she/he may also pursue an independent line of research related to the areas of migration & cultural clashes and economic inequality & protests from a cultural, social, and/or political psychological perspective.

Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, Human Development, or a related discipline at the beginning of the employment. The candidate should have knowledge and research experience in the field of social, cultural, and political psychology. Candidates who are methodologically plural, including expertise in experimental and ethnographic research, are desirable. It is not a requirement to understand, speak, or learn Danish.

Salary and conditions of employment
Terms of appointment and salary will be in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The salary range starts at DKK 34,079.13 (EUR 4,560) per month + a 17,1 % contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.

The Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) have further agreed on a protocol that makes it possible for international researchers employed by the University to achieve a pension exemption, whereby the pension contribution will be paid out as salary. The application, which must be written in English, should include a cover/motivation letter (max. 2 pages), CV, study certificates, up to five of the most important scientific publications, and the PhD thesis (if applicable), as well as at least three reference letters. The motivation letter should include ideas for planned research congruent with the P.I.’s interests during the one year postdoc.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, applicants are selected for assessment on the advice of the appointment committee. All applicants are subsequently notified whether an expert assessment committee has passed their application for assessment. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
