Postdoc position – mechanistic modelling in agricultural crops.
In the Team Seed Science and Technology, Section of Crop, Department of Agroecology, AU-Flakkebjerg, a part-time (30 hours per week) position as Postdoc will be available from December 1st 2020.

Area of work
The area of work will be agroecosystem modelling of agricultural crops, field work including UAV flights and participating in projects related to nitrogen uptake and nitrogen utilization in crops especially winter wheat and grasses for seed production. Evaluation of the environmental impact from nitrogen application is important and the area of work include working with results from ceramic suction crops placed in small plot experiments in combination with agroecosystem modelling to estimate nitrate leaching. The work will be in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff and furthermore in collaboration with private companies involved in the projects. The work will involve field experimental work at Aarhus University, Flakkebjerg and at farmers.

The position will be within the Team Seed Science and Technology, Section of Crop, AU-Flakkebjerg. Team Seed Science and Technology has competences within agroecosystem modelling, field plot experiments, grass seed production, seed science and precision agriculture.

Qualifications

  • Relevant education from a university or an academic institution.
  • A PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in agroecosystem modelling in agricultural crops.
  • Experience in nitrogen application and nitrogen utilization in agricultural crops and effect on the environment.
  • Applicants having experience with crop simulation modelling in winter wheat and grasses for seed production, will be preferred.
  • The project will involve a large degree of collaboration with external partners and we therefore seek a person with strong collaboration skills.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference

Formalities and salary range
Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
