Postdoctoral Fellow in Biochemistry / Chemical Biology

One postdoctoral fellow position in biochemistry / chemical biology is available for two years at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark. Starting date of the position will be 1 May 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Epigenetics most often refer to processes such as enzymatic modifications of DNA and numerous posttranslational modifications of the associated histone proteins, that lead to the transfer of genetic information from generation to generation, without changes in the underlying sequence of DNA. To understand the enormous intricacy of the epigenetic language, it is necessary to deepen our knowledge, at the atomic level, of biomolecular recognition of posttranslational modifications of histones.

As a postdoctoral fellow you will work on a Novo Nordisk Fonden-funded project aimed at providing the most comprehensive and complete understanding of biomolecular recognition of crotonyllysine by YEATS domain that plays key roles in human health and disease. You will apply modern chemical biology tools in investigations of crotonylated lysine residues in histone proteins with the associated YEATS reader domain proteins.

Specific Requirements
- PhD in chemical biology, biochemistry or molecular biology;
- Experience with protein research;
- Experience with incorporation of unnatural amino acids into proteins;
- Strong motivation and interest in working at the interface between chemistry and biology;
- Excellent skills in written and spoken English.

Deadline: 28 February 2020.

Please see the full call, including how to apply, on www.sdu.dk.
