Postdoctoral Fellowship in Condensed Matter Theory

The Center for Quantum Devices and the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) at Copenhagen University seek candidates for one or more postdoctoral fellowships in condensed matter theory. Applicants are expected to have strong research credentials in the field, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the highly active condensed matter physics and quantum information communities at the Niels Bohr Institute. Target areas include (but are not limited to): quantum dynamics in driven/open systems; mesoscopic, low-dimensional, and quantum Hall systems; quantum devices (solid state qubits); strongly correlated systems; topological order and entanglement.

The Center for Quantum Devices is a basic research center supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, comprising materials research, experimental physics, nanoelectronics and condensed matter theory. The Niels Bohr International Academy is a center for fundamental research including theoretical and computational astrophysics, cosmology, high-energy particle physics, condensed matter physics, quantum information, and bio-physics. The NBIA has an extensive program of visiting scholars throughout the year and sponsors conferences and workshops in a broad range of topics. The Academy maintains strong links with the Center for Quantum Devices (QDev), Microsoft Research, the quantum optics group (QUANTOP).

The initial appointment can be made for up to two years. A possibility of extension to a third year may be possible, based on the availability of funds. The target starting date is September 1, 2018, but can be made earlier or later (as early as June 1, 2018) by arrangement. The positions will be funded in part by the ERC TOPDYN project.
