The Department of Physics and Astronomy (http://www.phys.au.dk/) at Aarhus University invites applications for a permanent position as full Professor in experimental attosecond physics. The position is open from September 1, 2018.

The Department aims to strengthen its activities within the field of experimental ultrafast physics, attosecond physics and nonlinear physics. Specifically, the successful candidate is expected to apply attosecond light sources to the study of ultrafast dynamics in atomic, molecular and/or in condensed matter systems.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct an ambitious research program and to contribute to the development of the research field within the Department.

Applicants should have an exceptionally strong record of original scientific research at the highest international level, and they should have extensive experience related to attosecond pulse generation. They should document dynamic leadership and talent for supervision of young researchers. Abilities to promote collaborative research and to attract external funding are additional essential qualifications for the position.

Applicants are expected to document their experience with all facets of university teaching, including the supervision of MSc and PhD students.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.
