Professor in general practice

The Research Unit of General Practice, Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for a part-time position as professor and senior researcher.

The position will be offered as an employment contract for 5 years with possibility of extension and to be filled as soon as possible.
Requirements and expectations

The applicant will be expected to be able to cover the complete field of general practice in research and teaching and hold a specialist certification in general practice.
The successful candidate will have excellent and documented teaching skills and experience in curriculum development. The successful candidate must have a strong research profile and will extend the research areas of the Research Unit of General Practice. Also, he/she will contribute into transfer of knowledge from research into general practice.  The position will comprise part-time professorship and part-time senior researcher. The clinical work will be independent of this position and will be expected to comprise 2 or 3 days weekly and take place in a Danish general practice.

Emphasis will be placed on the extent, quality and originality of the applicant's body of international scientific publications. Moreover, an assessment will be made of the applicant's research management abilities.

Required qualifications 

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

• a relevant PhD or equivalent academic degree
• strong and documented research competencies
• demonstrated ability to independently establish a research field
• demonstrated ability of leading a research group
• solid experience in establishing and keeping international networks
• documented experience in teaching and supervision of master- and PhD-students
• strong track record of publications
• solid experience in raising funding for research

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.

• a research plan detailing the candidate's ideas and plans for her/his future research work.
