The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is one of four departments at the Faculty of Science, SDU and is located in Odense. The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is a department focused on basic research. We are happy to move beyond traditional disciplines and work to develop new technologies and sciences across physics, chemistry, pharmacy, mathematics, computer science and biology. The department’s research thus contributes to new knowledge and solutions with applications in the areas of climate, environment, energy and health.

The department handles research in chemistry, physics and pharmacy along with several interdisciplinary areas, and also houses several major research centres. The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is responsible for the educations in chemistry, medicinal chemistry and physics, as well as the bachelor’s education in pharmacy. The professor in the field of Inorganic Materials Chemistry will be placed in the Section for Chemistry and Pharmacy and will work in a highly collaborative atmosphere with theorists and experimental scientists.

We are seeking outstanding, experienced and competitive researchers who have a demonstrated track record of excellent research within inorganic materials chemistry and have the potential to attract significant funding. Specific areas of research could be e.g. materials design and synthesis of inorganic materials for energy conversion and storage.

A successful applicant is expected to have a PhD and research background in Chemistry or a closely related area.

A successful applicant is expected to build up and lead an independent research group and conduct an active, internationally recognized research programme. Interest and competence in teaching chemistry at all levels of university education are essential. Applicants must document a record of significant teaching and supervision experience at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. A successful candidate must be able to teach all introductory chemistry courses as well as undergraduate and graduate level courses in chemistry, including courses in inorganic and materials chemistry.
