The Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics at the University of Southern Denmark invite applications for a position as professor in Resource and Environmental Economics. The position is located at the SDU campus in Esbjerg. The starting date of the position is November 1st, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Research in the Department is organized in three research groups, and the announced position will be part of the Research Group "Management and Economics of Resources and the Environment" (MERE). The focus of the MERE group puts specific emphasis on economic uses of the interlinked biosphere and biophysical systems as well as risk analysis and management. Topics of research within these emphases currently focus on ecosystem conservation and use; marine resource use and conservation; energy transitions; climate regulation and intersections of technology, trade and development relating to these issues. While the research group mainly consists of economists, the research is often placed in multidisciplinary academic and international environment. We seek applicants with a very strong research record and ability to lead research in a collaborative environment with a focus on resource and environmental economics and management. The preferred applicants' research activity is expected to strengthen the group's research profile and to be published in the most relevant high-quality international journals.

The successful applicant is expected to further develop the research and teaching activities within the area of resource and environmental economics and management and must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with the international research community as well as the surrounding society.

We expect the successful applicant to actively engage in the further development of the research group as well as to contribute positively to the Department as a whole.
