Professor of environmental and energy law

The Department of Law invites applications for a professorship in environmental and energy law etc. The expected starting date is 1 August 2021 or as agreed upon.

Job description
The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the faculty's overall research strategy and to the department's research and teaching environment within, in particular, environmental and energy law and, to a lesser extent, also public law, in particular administrative law (hereinafter referred to as "the field").

As professor, you are expected to:

  • contribute significantly to the department's teaching environment, primarily by delivering research-based teaching and supervision at both Bachelor's and Master's degree level within the field, and you must therefore be able to teach in Danish
  • contribute significantly to the department's research environment, including participating in internal and external, and international, research groups within the field and relevant interdisciplinary areas etc., as well as publish and disseminate scientific results within the field, both nationally and internationally
  • contribute to the development of the academic field at highest international standards, including by supervising PhD students within the field and by offering relevant PhD courses
  • undertake research management within the field and to actively pursue the department's objective of increased external funding.

To qualify for a professorship, the applicant must have demonstrated research and teaching skills of such standards as can be attained following a satisfactory period of appointment as an associate professor within the field or by alternative means.

In the assessment of applicants for the position as a professor, the following will form part of the assessment criteria:
  • The applicant’s record of original scientific production of international standards within the field and evidence of the candidate’s contribution to development of the field
  • The applicant’s record of publishing in/with leading national and international journals/publishers and experience of presentation of his/her research within the field at leading international conferences and document experience with the application of various research methods
  • The applicant’s plan for further development of the field, including in relation to environmental regulation of modern technologies, for example negative emission technologies
  • The applicant’s record of teaching qualifications in the field of study
  • The applicant’s ability to contribute to research management and, where appropriate, other leadership functions, for example the ability to enter into and build a strong research environment
  • The applicant’s record of securing external research funding

Employment as professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the faculty's supervision course as well as the faculty's Blended Learning – Go Online course provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If candidates have not completed equivalent courses prior to employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five-year period.

Terms of employment
The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
