Professor with specific responsibilities (WSR) in Physical Activity Epidemiology

The research Unit of unit of Exercise Epidemiology (ExE), Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics invites applications for a position as professor with specific responsibilities in Physical Activity Epidemiology to be filled as soon as possible for a period of 5 years with possibility of prolongation for additionally 3 years.

The candidate should possess a solid track record within physical activity epidemiology research, and it is expected that he/she is able to strengthen and further develop research in this area. It is expected that the candidate has demonstrated ability to independently obtain competitive research grant funding from external sources and experience with managing and leading teams conducting research projects.

The applicant will lead the research unit of Exercise Epidemiology (ExE), teach classes in the bachelor and master programs offered at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, and mentor undergraduate- and Ph.D. students. Furthermore, the successful candidate should also assist in public sector consultancy work and international collaborations in which the research unit is involved.

The candidate will be expected to have a PhD degree in the area of physical activity epidemiology, have excellent written and communication skills as evidenced by high profile peer-reviewed publications.

The ExE research unit conducts large-scale observational and experimental studies that aim to investigate the role of regular physical activity engagement in promotion of population health and prevention of non-communicable diseases. The research unit is also involved with development and validation of methods to assess physical activity and sedentary behaviors for use in large-scale population-based studies.
