Professorship with special responsibilities in comparative labour market analysis

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Professorship with special responsibilities (MSO) in comparative labour market analysis at the Department of Business and Politics (DBP). DBP is a leading international department that is at the forefront of research at the interface between business and politics in Denmark, the European Union and beyond. DBP scholars set research agendas in issues related to global challenges that affect business and politics, such as technological disruption, inequality and sustainability. Research topics include business studies, global value chains and global wealth chains, innovation, economic development, comparative political economy, European Union, public policy, philanthropy and civil society. DBP’s research work often serves as a point of reference for think-tanks, policymakers, business organizations and the media. The applicants’ profile must fit with one of the core research themes of the department: political economy, comparative and European public policy, business and civil society. Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate, graduate and doctoral teaching. DBP teaches, for example, in the International Business and Politics (BSc and MSc), European Business (BSC), and Business Administration and Sociology (BSC) programmes.

Successful applicants must have an international profile, a strong record of research publications, and relevant teaching experience. They must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with industry.

The professorship is time-limited to a period of 5 years with the possibility of extension. The main responsibilities will focus on research and development tasks.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as maintaining and establishing broad links across CBS.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education.
  • Individual and group based research meeting high international standards.
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation.
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects.
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at CBS
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks.
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participating in the public debate.
  • Research meeting high international standards, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline.
  • Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching.
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.

The applicant is expected to contribute to the development and application of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’s international research position.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in an appropriate field
