Program / Product Lead, Higher Education Segment

To be successful in this role, you must be an excellent communicator with senior leaders, think strategically and be comfortable in the data, objectively curious, self-directed, analytical, and an organized project manager who can deliver timely results. 


  • Partner with the Stakeholder Directors, Education and Philanthropy, as well as Sr. Director Customer Ecosystem, on identifying the needs and customizing solutions and offerings to the interests of higher education institutions.
  • Work across Microsoft with various Higher Education team to identify opportunities for partnerships with global colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions.
  • Create and leverage engagement models and mechanisms to maximize relationships and outcomes.
  • Oversee the quality, accuracy, relevancy and effectiveness of the under skilled segment portfolio.
  • Successful deliver on all jobs related measures/metrics of success.
  • Leverage design thinking to broadly and deeply understand the global higher education’s desires, needs, interests and insights.
  • Determine go to market, user experience, community and other aspects of the solutions/offerings to exceed uptake, distribution, funnel development, viral marketing and community stickiness and propagation objectives, measures and metrics.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director, Employer Ecosystem and Director of Employability on approaches to ensure customers are skilled and capable to satisfy target job requirements and are connected appropriately to secure these jobs.
  • Utilize data and data-based interpretation, analysis, story development and influence in support of desired outcomes.
  • Partner with the Program/Product Leads for Corporate, Under-/Un-skilled, and Secondary Schools to ensure plans and activities are well aligned to achieve overall ambitions.
  • Anticipate market changes to drive new, industry-relevant solutions to customers, building a strong and active external network with customers and partners and being a credible Microsoft 21st Century solutions spokesperson.
  • Drive continuous learning and development through foresight attunement and sharing.


  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA strongly preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of post degree experience in management consulting, business development or product management
  • Experience working with Higher Education desired.
  • Experience driving executive buy-in on strategic proposals
  • Excellent business development and partner relationship management skills.
  • Experience working in or as a close partner to strategic sourcing.
  • Recognized experience and expertise successfully leveraging employability development approaches such as apprenticeships to get people jobs.
  • Proven ability to partner with and lead governments, not-for-profits and educational organizations to skill individuals for jobs using employability approaches.
  • Acumen in design, development and implementation of employability development solutions.
  • Strength in anticipating and using learnings and partnerships to make a market.
  • Expertise in building extended teams of internal and external contributors that seamlessly work towards common goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, employees and teams to envision a different future.
  • Proven leadership in identifying and using foresight to establish a point of view.
  • Expertise using design thinking, personas, customer insights, segmentation and trend analysis to develop a vision, strategy and set of ever green solutions and offerings.
  • Demonstrated strength in data-based decision-making, analysis, influencing and storytelling.
  • Experience in engaging stakeholders and driving to alignment and action.
  • Strong project management skills and ability for cross-functional collaboration and coordination.
  • Proven change management experience in leading with clarity, generating energy and delivering success.? 
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong communications both verbal and written.
  • Strong partner relationship management and solution development skills.
  • Strong executive presence including communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small audiences.
  • Problem solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, conflict resolution, and follow through with partners.
  • Ability to travel ~25%
