Psychiatrist, Denmark

Staff Specialist or Medical Consultant, Vordingborg Psychiatric Hospital

Would you like to be part of a modern psychiatric organisation with ambitions of high professional quality and cohesive courses of patient treatment? Do you prefer working in an informal work environment with a flat hierarchy and the opportunity for influence and independence?

The psychiatric unit in the southern part of Region Zealand is looking to appoint a new team of specialists in psychiatry, as we face a generation shift in our team of medical staff. Our psychiatric hospital is located in the town of Vordingborg in idyllic surroundings close to the shore - just 240 km from Hamburg and 100 km from Copenhagen.

We have a modern hospital organisation that offers examination, treatment and care for people with mental illnesses. We are part of a combined health service, in which the relationship with municipalities, general practitioners, patient organisations, patients and relatives is central. We see our patients as partners and so the management style is adjusted accordingly, to ensure it adds value to this relationship.

You will be part of an ambitious, development-oriented workplace with 330 employees, where we set ourselves high goals and standards. For example, we have reduced the use of restraint by over 50%, we have a good training environment, and we are about to start research in collaboration with the Psychiatric Research Unit in Slagelse.
We view further education and research as important activities, which enhance professionalism and contribute to the recruitment and retention of competent employees.

We believe it is important to have an open and informal culture with a high level of team spirit, flexibility and a multidisciplinary approach in performing our duties, which translates into a high level of involvement and dialogue between professional groups. We view professional disagreements as a strength, which can contribute to developing the organisation and creating better patient care.

The individual wards and outpatient units are managed by a senior nurse/team leader working together with a consultant/team consultant responsible for the ward. We have 70 beds, of which ten are in the Psychiatric Emergency Ward and three are user-based beds.
We expect
You are a specialist in psychiatry and have experience of and an interest in working with psychiatry in general. Our ward is divided according to diagnoses, so the three sections primarily have patients with:
Psychotic disorders, possibly combined with abuse
Personality disorders
Affective disorders

You have plenty of initiative and want to contribute to the development of psychiatry, collaboration and professional quality. You are a team player and are happy to cooperate across professional groups to ensure that our patients are treated with a high degree of professional healthcare quality.
Whats attractive working for us
Influence on the further development of psychiatry as part of a new team of specialists who are willing and able to move developments forward and secure modern psychiatric care now and in the future.
An opportunity to specialise in one or more of our patient groups, if this is of interest.
A flexible work schedule, e.g. with attendance four days a week.
Possibility of attending courses, conferences and further education as required.
A thorough induction process in which you will spend the first year focusing on learning the Danish language, Danish psychiatric legislation, procedures and systems, etc.
