Purchasing Expert

We are looking for a new team member – an experienced retail purchaser practitioner and advisor – to be part of Egmont’s e-commerce team based in Gothenburg. The ambition of the e-commerce team is to create tomorrow’s e-commerce winners in selected niches where we combine inspiration, retail core and technology to win new digital positions.

Egmont e-commerce has a strong portfolio of online retail companies within lifestyle. The e-commerce portfolio currently consists of eight high-growth companies specializing in distinct categories, such as outdoor, parenting and kitchen. The portfolio includes Jollyroom, Fjellsport, Outnorth, Bagaren och Kocken, Med24, Nicehair, Garnius and Skitt Fiske.

The total e-commerce revenue became ~385 mEUR in 2019 and we aim for 500 mEUR in 2020. We continue to strengthen our companies further, as well as search for new investments. Our focus is the Nordics, but we also look for opportunities in Europe.

Within the e-commerce business area, Egmont has a highly skilled team that manages acquisitions and support portfolio companies with benchmarks, KPIs and value creation projects within operational excellence. The team is located in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and they work closely together.

Job Description
Your job will be to drive procurement into tomorrow’s digital procurement. Where our companies meet consumers’ need and utilize data and technology to forecast and optimize companies. You will work closely with the management of the portfolio companies and support them with strategic development as well as operational execution and technology development.

You will work as a strategic advisor but be hands-on and operational in helping companies improve processes and decisions. You will have large variety in your tasks. For example, advice the companies in planning and improving the value chain, help a company with a demand planning software, support a company in defining a good structure for better assortment strategy and management and become data driven to optimize assortment and negotiations.

You will be in charge to keep an overview of the portfolio’s purchasing performance (KPIs and reporting of individual companies), as well as support due diligence and assessment of new targets in the investment process.

Tasks include
- Optimize the companies’ purchasing strategy end executions
- Support and advice the companies in developing an effective and productive purchasing strategy
- Understand key business drivers and develop key metrics to compare and follow up portfolio companies and prospects
- Establish and document best practices and knowledge sharing that can be applied across portfolio
- Participate in business development projects for our portfolio companies
- Create decision material for management teams and boards
- Work with a Nordic portfolio, hence some travelling must be expected
- Strong understanding of how technology could improve the organizations

Qualifications
- Master of Science in Economics, Business or Industrial Engineering
- 8-15 years of professional purchasing experience in industry and preferably consulting
- Highly business oriented
- Strong interest in technology and data
- Relevant industries include retail/ecommerce/consumer goods companies
- Topics of expertise: purchasing including assortment management, procurement strategies, category management, performance management, process improvement, data analytics
- Fluent in at least one Scandinavian language and English
