Quantitative Algo Trader

In short: All blockers are removed to realize a top quantitative algo-driven trading team within Energy Trading, curve products, which you will have the chance to join from the beginning!

The team:

We are an ambitious cross-disciplinary commercial team consisting of top-level people with diverse quantitative backgrounds, such as software engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, traders, quants, and physicists. We share a mission to research, develop, and trade algorithms to realize systematic value across the energy commodity space.

If you are curious, inventive, open-minded and (above all) commercially driven, we are certain you will thrive with us, where your input in discussing and driving trading ideas for new algorithms at a white board will be equally important to your skills as a first-class trader.

The Job role:

Your role as an Algo Trader will challenge your creative and commercial abilities, participating across the full value chain of algorithmic trading. Your primary focus will be managing our strategies in the markets, but you are also expected participate in researching and implementing automated trading strategies in our algorithmic trading framework with the rest of the team.

On an average workday, your principal responsibilities will include:

  • As part of a shift roster: Trade, execute, and manage our portfolio of trading algorithms across the curve of financial energy futures (power, gas, etc.)

  • Engaging with other traders and analysts to remain up to date on upcoming events, while analyzing potential impact on our algo portfolio

  • Actively engaging with Algo Developers and Algo Researchers to both generate new ideas, and improve on existing algorithms

  • Tracking and optimizing key performance indicators, such as P&L, slippage, trade performance analysis, and performance of our trading strategies ensuring delivery against commercial targets

  • Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and supporting selected projects within the algo value chain

  • Giving input to development of our bespoke algorithmic trading platform

  • Liaising with our IT department, control functions, and other stakeholders across the business.

  • The Person:

  • Have experience from a trading organization, working in commodity markets

  • Understand and be knowledgeable about the European Energy Complex

  • Excel at taking calculated trading decisions on the back of an algo portfolio, sticking to risk-management guidelines

  • Have a well-balanced commercial aptitude and quantitative/technical know-how, creativity and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to influence teams to drive results

  • Recognize that success will come from world-class specialists supplementing each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • It will be a clear plus if you have:

  • Experience applying the R/Python data-science ecosystems

  • Have experience executing, or working with, algorithmic trading strategies

  • Familiarity with order interplay and market microstructures

  • Have PhD-level research experience (this is not a strict requirement).
