The Section of Global Sustainable Production, Department of Technology and Innovation, invites applications a position as research assistant who will be working on selected projects affiliated with the section. The starting date for the positions is 1. March, 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The research assistant will primarily be working on projects related to Myanmar and Bangladesh and is expected to travel frequently to these two countries. The research assistant will be involved in analytical, dissemination, coordination, data collection and teaching activities.

We strongly encourage candidates with prior knowledge about the garment industry and preferable also with experience related to social sustainable and Myanmar and Bangladesh to apply.  

The research assistant will be working closely with the two professors in the section and undertaking specific tasks related to their research projects in Myanmar and Bangladesh. The candidate will be affiliated with a new dynamic research group which is driven by a passion for research linking productivity, innovation and sustainability. The research group collaborates closely with universities in Myanmar and Bangladesh and the candidates should be interested in working in an international environment. The research group pays special attention to ensuring a rewarding work environment for all employees. 

The research assistant will be hired for three years.

The successful candidates will be expected to have: 

  • A relevant Master’s degree.
  • Experience from the industry and the countries.
  • International experience.
  • Excellent writing and oral skills in English and ability to work independently.

330165462Clinical Professor in Clinical Microbiology (combined position)Robot A combined position as clinical professor (50 ) and as consultant (50 ) is vacant at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at the Clinical Microbiology Unit, Clinical Diagnostic Department, Hospital of South West Jutland (SVS) respectively. The position is for a 5-year period with the possibility of extension. The academic position The clinical professor will be appointed at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. The position will be within clinical microbiology, and focus areas could include, yet are not limited to, molecular diagnosis and subtyping of bacterial pathogens (including the use of whole-genome sequencing), prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections, and the epidemiology and spread of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Trans-sectional research and collaboration will be expected. Areas of responsibility The clinical professor will be responsible for the development and optimisation of novel diagnostic approaches in clinical microbiology, particularly the use of molecular diagnostics. Furthermore, the professor will be responsible for developing new strategies for collaboration with other key stakeholders in the areas of epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases. The position includes research management. Responsibility will be agreed upon in connection with a possible employment. Additionally, the clinical professor will be expected to mentor post-docs, PhD-students, and undergraduate students, as well as maintain and develop national and international contacts and secure funding. Participation in assessment work is part of the position. Moreover, profiling this research area in the public eye will be an important task. Additionally, the professor will be expected to participate in the teaching and instruction on the new master s programme in Medicine in Esbjerg from the year 2022. Research activity, network and collaboration The clinical professor will be expected to increase research activity and to expand collaboration with other researchers at hospitals in the region of Southern Denmark, at SDU, the rest of Denmark and abroad. The clinical position The clinician will be appointed as consultant at the Clinical Microbiology Unit, Clinical Diagnostic Department, Hospital of South West Jutland (SVS). The consultant must fulfil the requirements and responsibilities of a consultant in a department of clinical microbiology giving pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic advice on the investigation, diagnosis and management of infection. Qualifications The successful applicant has a PhD or equivalent post-graduate research qualifications and must be qualified as a consultant in clinical microbiology. Additionally, the applicant must have substantial skills in both clinical aspects and research within the field of clinical microbiology. The preferred candidate has demonstrated skills and scientific achievements within clinical microbiology, the ability to motivate and supervise and documents research management skills, good interpersonal skills and has visions of how to further strengthen the Research Unit of Clinical Microbiology. A combined position as clinical professor (50%) and as consultant (50%) is vacant at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at the Clinical Microbiology Unit, Clinical Diagnostic Department, Hospital of South West Jutland (SVS) respectively.

The position is for a 5-year period with the possibility of extension.

The academic position

The clinical professor will be appointed at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. The position will be within clinical microbiology, and focus areas could include, yet are not limited to, molecular diagnosis and subtyping of bacterial pathogens (including the use of whole-genome sequencing), prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections, and the epidemiology and spread of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Trans-sectional research and collaboration will be expected.

Areas of responsibility

The clinical professor will be responsible for the development and optimisation of novel diagnostic approaches in clinical microbiology, particularly the use of molecular diagnostics. Furthermore, the professor will be responsible for developing new strategies for collaboration with other key stakeholders in the areas of epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases. The position includes research management. Responsibility will be agreed upon in connection with a possible employment.

Additionally, the clinical professor will be expected to mentor post-docs, PhD-students, and undergraduate students, as well as maintain and develop national and international contacts and secure funding. Participation in assessment work is part of the position. 

Moreover, profiling this research area in the public eye will be an important task. Additionally, the professor will be expected to participate in the teaching and instruction on the new master’s programme in Medicine in Esbjerg from the year 2022.

Research activity, network and collaboration

The clinical professor will be expected to increase research activity and to expand collaboration with other researchers at hospitals in the region of Southern Denmark, at SDU, the rest of Denmark and abroad.

The clinical position 

The clinician will be appointed as consultant at the Clinical Microbiology Unit, Clinical Diagnostic Department, Hospital of South West Jutland (SVS). The consultant must fulfil the requirements and responsibilities of a consultant in a department of clinical microbiology giving pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic advice on the investigation, diagnosis and management of infection.

Qualifications

The successful applicant has a PhD or equivalent post-graduate research qualifications and must be qualified as a consultant in clinical microbiology. Additionally, the applicant must have substantial skills in both clinical aspects and research within the field of clinical microbiology.

The preferred candidate has demonstrated skills and scientific achievements within clinical microbiology, the ability to motivate and supervise and documents research management skills, good interpersonal skills and has visions of how to further strengthen the Research Unit of Clinical Microbiology.
