Research Assistant in RNA biology

The Department of Molecular Biology, Aarhus University, invites applications for a part-time (20h/wk) Research Assistant position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to participate in the RNA research of the laboratory of Associate professor Ulf Andersson Vang Ørom.

Starting Date and Period
The position is for 6 months and can start as soon as possible.

Job description
You will work closely with postdocs in the laboratory with human cells in tissue culture and RNA purification and analysis.

Your profile
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant area and have experience with tissue culture and/or RNA work. The working language of the group is English.

Who we are
The laboratory consists of 3 postdocs and 3 PhD students working with RNA biology. Our focus is on non-coding RNA and RNA modifications in regulation of gene expression.

The successful candidate is offered the possibility of working in a great research environment and learning new techniques regarding tissue culture and RNA work, as well as access to a well-developed research infrastructure.

The place of work is C. F. Møllers Alle 3, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
