Senior Assay Scientist

SNIPR Biome is pioneering a novel use of CRISPR/Cas technology to address human diseases. They use their technology to selectively and precisely decimate target bacteria, while leaving the rest of the microbial community intact and unharmed. Moreover, the company is well funded, which will finance the further development of the company’s pioneering CRISPR technology platform and the company’s first clinical programs.

As Senior Assay Scientist at SNIPR Biome, you will be responsible for the development and running of assays for screening and characterisation of SNIPR Biome drug candidates’ mode-of-action and potency, but also those designed to support CMC and clinical activities.

Moreover, you will contribute with novel ideas and work closely with other teams in a matrix and collaborative environment, delivering robust scientific data in support of SNIPR Biome research and development programmes.

With direct report to Head of Assay and In Vitro Biology.

Your main tasks are:

  • Developing new assays for screening and characterisation of SNIPR Biome drug candidates’ mode-of-action and potency.
  • Running routine assays for screening.
  • Support research, CMC and clinical activities.
  • Coordination and collaboration with teams internally, CROs and other external partners.

Your qualifications are a minimum of 3 years of documented experience from the pharmaceutical industry. Hands-on experience in the design and running of assays for testing of biologicals targeting infectious diseases e.g. potency and mode-of-action characterisation of antimicrobial drugs is essential.

Moreover, it is expected that the candidate has a solid understanding of aspects of cell biology relevant for investigation of new therapeutic options targeting infectious diseases, as well as broad knowledge of tools, techniques and technologies in particular those applied to the study of the effect of compounds on cell’s viability and proliferation together with hands-on experience in analytical methods such as flow cytometry (including panel design), reporter cell assays, ELISA and qPCR.

It is an advantage to have experience with automation, tracking and high throughput screening for drug discovery together with experience in assay qualification.  

You have a Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Cell Biology or a related field. A PhD is preferred but not a demand.

You are a person with a high level of attention to details with a dynamic approach. You are self-motivated and able to work independently, but also team-oriented. You are structured, organised and process-oriented, and you thrive in an environment with an entrepreneurial atmosphere. You can communicate clearly, both internally and externally towards CROs and other stakeholders.
