Do you have the experience required to excel in the field of expression cell line engineering? Would a stimulating and enthusiastic research environment motivate you? Do you wish to work in a patient-centric organisation? If your answer is yes, then we welcome you as our new Senior Cell line Engineering Specialist.

About the department
Department for Expression Technologies 2 is part of a larger function area in Global Research. The focus of the department is on optimising heterologous protein expression systems for bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing. We continuously strive to expand our knowledge of the basic biology underlying recombinant protein production in order to translate the fundamental understanding of how cells work into novel ways of tailoring cells to produce therapeutic proteins of high quality. The department provides an excellent research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technologies.

The position
As a part of Expression Technologies 2, you will collaborate with enthusiastic and science driven colleagues to develop innovative approaches for optimising recombinant protein expression. You will be responsible for devising advanced screening strategies and for implementing new cutting edge technologies that will enable superior expression cell performance specifically using CHO hosts. Since, data science tools are considered essential for successful advancement of recombinant expression systems for complex proteins it will be part of the job to decipher results from large data sets to predict various outcomes. You will contribute to innovation in the area of protein drug formats. In addition, you will handle heterologous protein expression and deliver various proteins and engineered cells to the research projects.

In this position, you will work in cross-departmental projects together with colleagues with diverse scientific backgrounds. You will report to the department director and will collaborate with scientific colleagues, technicians and project managers within Novo Nordisk R&D.

Qualifications
You hold a PhD, preferably in molecular biology or similar. You have minimum 2 years of experience in mammalian cell line engineering and optimisation of heterologous protein expression. You are proficient in data analysis tools such as R, Matlab or Python and possess expert knowledge of advanced molecular biology and mammalian cell technologies.

It is considered an advantage if you have hands-on experience with one or several of the following technologies: high-throughput library screening using plate formats or microfluidics based systems, genome editing, next generation sequencing, library design, automation using robots or FACS.

As an individual, you enjoy sharing knowledge; have an innovative mind-set and a can-do attitude. You are proactive, out-going and possess a strong desire to get the job done.
