Senior Fabrication Engineer

The Microsoft Quantum Program announces a remarkable opportunity to work with an international team to build a topological quantum computer, in cooperation with the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI), in Copenhagen, Denmark, the birthplace of quantum physics. The Microsoft/NBI Research program is one of the locations for the overall Microsoft Quantum program along with sites in Lyngby (Denmark), Delft (Netherlands), Sydney (Australia), Purdue, UC Santa Barbara, and Redmond (USA).

  

We are seeking a Fabrication Scientist to develop new hybrid semiconductor-superconductor platforms for topological quantum computing.

Responsibilities

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Design and Fabricate nano-electronic devices for topological quantum computing applications.
  • Test and characterize quantum computing devices at room temperature and low temperature.
  • Develop recipes for device fabrication to optimize performance and yield.
  • Assist in optimizing design of quantum computing devices.
  • Develop automatic testing methods for devices.
  • Assist in training staff and students in nanofabrication.
  • Assist in tool maintenance and repair.
  • Coordinate with materials growers, cleanroom staff, and measurement staff to optimize workflow and device optimization.
  • Develop unit nanofabrication processes and integrate them into a robust process flow for the fabrication of topological quantum devices.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, maintain lot plans, maintain and review process control charts, and troubleshoot fabrication issues on demand.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years hands-on experience with nanofabrication of solid-state devices.
  • 4+ years experience with e-beam lithography, deposition, metrology, and variable temperature electrical characterization.
  • Excellent communication and process documentation habits
  • Interest in quantum technology.
